  1. Having never smoked, I feel I’m not well positioned to give advice on quitting. However, I have often found myself in a position where I have to do something that every cell in my body is resisting, so I offer these two tips:

    1) Take a breath. (This should get increasingly easier for you.
    2) Break things down into easily manageable chunks. Don’t think of the whole task of “quitting.” Instead, think about writing the next paragraph without having a cigarette.

The urge to abandon the task you have set for yourself will be strongest when things are at peak annoying/frustrating/difficult, so think about tackling your readings for Bible-piece Theater into *very tiny bits.*

And remember: You’ve got this and we’re all here for you.

    Also, this might help:

  2. It’s too early to tell now, but if the patch isn’t doing it for you, I recommend Chantix; it’s how I quit smoking.

Up side: cigarettes do nothing for you, so you learn to associate smoking with tasting like an ashtray and being slightly nauseous. Also, crazy fucking dreams, and you can keep smoking until you just don’t want to anymore. And you’ll quickly not want to anymore.

Down side: cigarettes do nothing for you, and neither does food, alcohol or sex. Didn’t test weed, but probably not that either. It basically cuts off all the “hey, this is fuckin’ awesome” chemical responses. So a bit drastic.

Good thing it only takes a couple of weeks.

  3. In my experience the second day is better than the first. But the third day is much worse than the first. After that it gets better. Although I eventually picked up vaping because for me it never went away. Although I haven’t smoked tobacco in 2 years.
